Born in Alaska, raised in Montana, yet somehow a Hoosier, Jan's been with Indiana University and the Kelley School of Business since 2018. In his current role, he oversees the day to day operations of the Kelley Undergraduate Admissions Office, and manages recruitment and Direct Admit Day, welcoming over 2000 future Kelley students every spring. Jan earned his Masters of Public Administration from the University of Utah, focused in education, with research on public bathroom access for LGBTQ+ students on college campuses. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Classical Civilization, focused on Greco-Roman history, from the University of Montana, his home state. Jan’s joined the council due to an interest in making Indiana University a home for all professionals, regardless of level. After joining two large R1 institutions, having never been a student or resident at either, he saw the need for the inclusion of staff voices in all aspects of campus life. When not working, he can be found singing with the Quarryland Men’s Chorus in Bloomington, baking in his home, or at Switchyard trivia nights.
