A Statement on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is recognizing, celebrating, and nurturing our differences, including race, ethnicity, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, religion, age, and other unique characteristics. As IU Bloomington Staff Council representatives, we believe diversity is a source of strength and innovation. Therefore, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where all individuals feel valued, respected, energized, heard, and empowered.
Our core values include integrity, respect, empathy, and collaboration. Embodying these values in our interactions can create a culture that supports and uplifts all individuals.
Our strategy for achieving diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging includes advocating for recruiting and retaining diverse talent; providing ongoing education and training on diversity, equity, and inclusion; and fostering a culture of awareness, open communication, and feedback. We are committed to breaking down silos, creating spaces for interaction, and building community.
Our success in achieving diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is measured by tracking data and metrics such as the diversity of our workforce and leadership, employee engagement and satisfaction, and our impact on the broader community. In addition, we are committed to continuously improving our diversity and inclusion efforts and hold ourselves accountable to our colleagues and partners.
We are committed to upholding this call to action and welcome conversations with our colleagues about diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
