Role at IU: I have the pleasure of working in the Office of the Vice President for Student Success. My role allows me to support the collegiate experience of all first-generation and low- or limited-income IU students at all of our learning spaces/campuses throughout the state. As University Director for First Generation and Low/Limited Income Student Support, I work with campus partners to amplify the voices and perspectives of IU's first-generation and low- or limited-income students so they, and ultimately all IU students, can thrive. I am fortunate to call IU Bloomington my professional home within Indiana University.
Previous Position at IU: Projectionist for the IU Cinema (2010-2012), Associate Instructor (2006-2010), Adjunct for the Sociology department (current), and Academic Advisor with University Division (2011-2013), Lead Academic Advisor and Assistant Director for the 21st Century Scholars Program (2013-2024).
Degrees and Education: BA in Sociology from American University (Washington, DC); MA in Sociology from Indiana University Bloomington; currently pursuing a doctorate in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Indiana University Bloomington.
Previous IUBSC Experience: In 2023, awarded a Professional Development Grant and was a panelist for the Women’s History Month IUBSC Speakers Series in March. IUBSC Vice President for the 2023-2024 year.
IUBSC Motivations: My lived experiences have positioned me in several different roles at IU Bloomington over the last two decades. I feel that has helped me understand the needs of all the stakeholders on our campus. I hope to use my experiences to help bridge gaps and make us a stronger institution. I am interested in strengthening the relationships between staff, faculty, and administration to ensure the best support for our students as they work to reach their goals. I also want to work to increase how staff feel supported and included at the university and along our professional development pathways.
